Howdie travelers and welcome to my post where we will check out my three best quick dry towels for travel this year. For those of us who like to travel light – and are not staying in hotels – anything that can assist us in reducing weight and space is well worth a look.

What are Quick Dry Towels?
AS the name probably suggests, quick dry towels are the same as normal towels except they are thinner, light in weight and dry incredibly quickly. Now in my personal opinion, nothing beats a nice fluffy towel after a warm shower however if you are traveling light or doing your own laundry whilst out on the road then these can be a great substitute.

Size
In my opinion, if you look at nothing else, then the size of the towel you choose is critical. This is due to the fact that I once bought myself a travel towel online and once I got it home, found it to be the size of a tea towel.
Most bath towels are sized at around the 28″ x 54″ (70 x 135cm) mark so look for a travel towel somewhere in this range.
Weight
Again as above, the whole reason to take a travel towel rather than a normal one is weight. Make sure that your chosen option is not so heavy as to defeat the purpose of having it in the first place.
Commonly, travel towels at bath towel size should weigh a couple of ounces at most.
Absorbency and softness
We have all been there, you get out of the shower and the towel you used seems to just move the water around on your body rather than take it off – I actually think this is what turned me off these types of towels originally. Luckily, modern travel towels are made with a lot more absorbency these days however.
The best travel towels are made with microfiber or cross stitched polyester blends that are not only soft but will absorb all the water you need whilst still remaining quick dry. The other advantage here is that these options tend to resist sand and dirt as well meaning they stay cleaner for longer.
Packing size
This is another area that is a main reason for purchasing this type of towel. I mean it can dry you all you want but if it doesn’t fit inside your backpack or carry on bag, then what is the point.
Again, look for options that fold down well so as to not take up too much room. Some even come with their own little travel cube as well.
