Now, when it comes to golf in Nevada, we tend to think of the many, many great golf courses within the city of Las Vegas. However, there are some others outside the city boundaries that are just as magical and worth a visit as well.

Ok, so here are some of the best, some I have been lucky enough to play, and others not – but anyway, let’s have a look:
1. Shadow Creek Golf Course
Shadow Creek Golf Course is a premier golfing destination located in North Las Vegas. Owned by MGM Resorts International, this public course was designed by Tom Fazio and established in 1990 and spans 7,560 yards with a par of 72, offering a challenging yet rewarding experience for golfers.
The course is notable for its exclusivity, originally serving as Steve Wynn’s private club before opening to a limited number of MGM hotel guests. With a history of hosting prestigious events, including The Match: Tiger vs. Phil and the PGA Tour’s CJ Cup, Shadow Creek is a must-visit for golf enthusiasts.

- Length: The course measures 7,560 yards (6,910 meters), making it one of the longer courses available to the public.
- Design: Redesigned in 2008 by Tom Fazio, the course now includes a 7-acre short game facility, enhancing the playing experience.

Green Fees and Access
- Green Fees: Historically, Shadow Creek was known for its $500 green fee, positioning it among the most expensive public courses.
- Access Requirements: The course is open to a limited number of guests from MGM hotels, reflecting its exclusive nature.
To be honest, this is one that I couldn’t afford – even though I was staying at a MGM resort. The concierge did tell me how spectacular this course is so I guess I will have to take his word for it.

2. Wynn Golf Club
Wynn Golf Club, located on the iconic Las Vegas Strip, offers a unique golfing experience that contrasts sharply with the desert landscape of Nevada. This 18-hole championship course, redesigned by the legendary architect Tom Fazio and his son Logan Fazio, stands as the only casino resort course in Las Vegas.
The course, originally designed in 2005 and later revisited, spans 6,722 yards and is a par-70, designed to challenge golfers of all skill levels.

- Dress Code: Golfers are required to wear a shirt with a collar, soft spikes and golf-appropriate pants (no denim). Shorts are permitted if they are no higher than mid-thigh.

Now, this is a course that quite surprised me as to be honest, I was expecting it to be a little Bali Hai like in that I would be paying for the location and name. All I can say is forget all that an
3. Cascata Golf Course
Cascata Golf Course, located in Boulder City, just outside Las Vegas, is often ranked among the top golf courses in the United States. Designed by renowned golf course architect Rees Jones, Cascata offers a luxurious and exclusive golfing experience that is unmatched in the Las Vegas area.

- Signature Holes: The course features several signature holes, with dramatic elevation changes, rugged terrain and water features, including a river that runs through the clubhouse and alongside several of the holes.

- Clubhouse: The 37,000-square-foot Tuscan-style clubhouse offers luxurious locker rooms, a full-service pro shop and fine dining.
- Practice Facilities: Cascata provides extensive practice facilities, including a driving range and putting greens, allowing golfers to warm up before their round.
- Caddie Service: Every group at Cascata is accompanied by a professional caddie, enhancing the golfing experience with expert advice and personalized service.
Green Fees and Access Requirements
- Green Fees: Cascata’s green fees are among the highest in the Las Vegas area, reflecting the exclusivity and luxury of the course. Fees can range from $300 to $500, depending on the time of year and day of the week.
- Booking: Tee times can be booked in advance through the course’s website or by contacting the pro shop directly. Due to the exclusivity of the course, it is recommended to book as early as possible.
I tried to play this one a couple of times, but found that it was either very expensive, or booked out for weeks in advance meaning it is probably well worth the effort to get to it. For me, it is another to add to the bucket list I guess.

4. TPC Las Vegas
TPC Las Vegas, formerly known as TPC at The Canyons, is a prestigious 18-hole golf course nestled in the Summerlin community of western Las Vegas, Nevada. Established in 1996, this public course was designed by Bobby Weed with consultation from tour professional Raymond Floyd.
As part of the PGA Tour’s Tournament Players Club network, TPC Las Vegas has hosted the Las Vegas Senior Classic on the Champions Tour from 1994 to 2001 and is recognized for its challenging layout. It has also been featured in video games, such as the PS1 version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2001.

- Green Fees: Typically, TPC courses offer a range of pricing depending on the time of day, season, and availability.
- Access Requirements: As a public course, TPC Las Vegas is accessible to golfers who book a tee time in advance. Membership options or special promotions may also be available for frequent players.
I have played this one and it is a really top class course. It is a little forgiving for my drive and all in all, a lot of fun for golfers of all levels.
5. Wolf Creek Golf Club
Due to the fact that it is literally carved out of the desert landscape, This course is so spectacular that I had to include it here. And as with TPC Las Vegas, it has also been featured in a video game highlighting the fact that the course is a masterpiece that has received widespread acclaim, making it a must-visit for golf enthusiasts.
Signature Holes and Course Experience
After playing all eighteen holes, golfers (including me) often find it challenging to single out just one signature hole, thanks to the course’s overall beauty and design. The picturesque landscape and the strategic layout leave a lasting impression, often overshadowing the scores.
From personal experience however, I will say that standing on the top tee box of the third hole will literally take your breath away.

The course features a driving range and fully stocked pro shop as well as a bar and restaurant.
Green Fees
- Green fees: Range depending on day and time ranging from around $130 to $300 per round
- Titleist Rentals: $80 per set
- Twilight Rounds: Offered at a discount, with the understanding that players may not finish all 18 holes.

Look, the last time I played it was post-pandemic and the club house and outside facilities had definitely experienced the toll of the absence of maintenance staff. The course however was still immaculate and really an amazing spectacle to play on.

6. SouthShore Country Club
SouthShore Golf Club, nestled in Henderson, Nevada, near Lake Las Vegas, is a celebrated golf course recognized for its excellence and challenging layout. The course has received numerous accolades over the years including:

The course’s high points, towering upwards of 350 feet, provide stunning views of the rugged terrain and neighboring Lake Las Vegas.
The course has also been a venue for the former Wendy’s 3-Tour Challenge, where players from the LPGA, PGA, and Champions Tour competed together.

The course is known for its spectacular finishing holes, which have become a favorite spot for bighorn sheep spectators, adding a unique element to the golfing experience. The challenging layout and natural beauty of the course make it a memorable experience for all golfers.

7. Coyote Springs Golf Club
Coyote Springs Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course, is another recognized as one of the premier golfing experiences in the Las Vegas area. Since its opening in 2008, it has been celebrated for its challenging layout, pristine conditions and stunning desert landscape and is often mentioned among the top golf courses by Golf Digest and Golf Magazine.
Course Details
- Length: The course plays to a par 72 and ranges from 5,349 yards from the forward tees to 7,471 yards from the championship tees.
- Signature Holes: Eleven lakes come into play throughout the course, which is considered one of Nicklaus’ finest desert creations. The layout is known for its diversity, incorporating the natural desert landscape to challenge golfers of all skill levels.

- Practice Facilities: One of the largest and most diverse practice facilities in the world, measuring 22 acres. It features more than 100,000 square feet of tee area, 13 target greens, a short game green for pitching, chipping and bunker practice, and a 10,000 square-foot putting green.
- Mitch’s Bar & Grill: Offers dining options for golfers looking to enjoy a meal before or after their round.
- Golf Packages: Available for groups, with special rates and services for a comprehensive golfing experience.
Green Fees and Access Requirements
Coyote Springs offers competitive rates for Nevada residents and visitors, with special deals and packages available throughout the year. Guests are encouraged to book tee times through the club’s online booking system or by calling directly.
I have played this one – all I can say is WOW! And as above, the practice facilities alone are worth the visit.

8. Reflection Bay Golf Club
Reflection Bay Golf Club, nestled within the luxurious Lake Las Vegas resort community of Henderson, is a prestigious Jack Nicklaus Signature Design course and the only one of its kind in Nevada, offering golfers a unique blend of challenge and beauty.
The course has gained recognition for hosting the Wendy’s 3 Tour Challenge PGA event and has received numerous accolades from industry-leading publications like Golf Magazine and Golf Digest.

I haven’t actually got out to this one and to be honest, don’t know much about it. However, if I go from the reviews online, then it is definitely worth a round.
9. Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course
Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, designed by George Fazio in 1968 and later renovated by his nephew, Tom Fazio, is a premier golfing destination located on the shores of America’s most majestic alpine lake, Lake Tahoe. At an altitude of more than 6,200 ft., the course offers a unique and breathtaking golfing experience, blending natural beauty with challenging play.

- Length: The course plays to a par of 72, ranging from 5,349 yards from the forward tees to 7,471 yards from the championship tees.
- Signature Holes: Edgewood Tahoe is known for its stunning lakeside holes and challenging greens, offering golfers unforgettable views and strategic play.

- Booking: Tee times can be reserved up to 60 days in advance through the course’s online booking system. The Golf Shop operates daily from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM starting May 1st.
This is another than I haven’t really had time to get to however again, reviews suggest it should be on everybody’s list for a good Nevada golf course.
10. Championship at Incline Village Golf Resort
The Championship Course at Incline Village is a renowned public golf course located in Incline Village, on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., this classic 18-hole course is celebrated for its challenging layout, breathtaking alpine scenery, and pristine conditions.
Having undergone a complete renovation, the course offers a par-72 layout that stretches across a meticulously maintained landscape, providing golfers with a memorable experience that combines natural beauty with strategic golfing challenges.

- Renovation: The course was completely renovated to enhance its playability while preserving its original design integrity.

While the entire course offers a compelling layout, it is known for its spectacular par-3 island green, which provides golfers with both a visual treat and a challenging test of skill. The course’s design takes full advantage of the natural terrain, offering stunning views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding mountains.
Amenities
- Practice Facilities: Includes a driving range with top-of-the-line hitting mats, a chipping green and a putting green.
- Golf Shop: A fully stocked shop offering the latest in golf apparel and equipment.
- Dining: The Grille at The Chateau, located within the clubhouse, offers dining options with views of the 18th green and Lake Tahoe.
- Electric Vehicle Charging: Two ChargePoint electric vehicle charging stations are available for guests.
Green Fees and Access Requirements
- Rates: Vary by season, with prime time rates starting from $146 to $247, twilight rates from $110 to $185, and super twilight rates from $68 to $119. Special rates are available for 9-hole rounds after 5:30 p.m.
- Booking Policies: Tee times can be booked two weeks in advance without a pre-booking fee. Booking outside of this window incurs a non-refundable pre-booking fee of $15 per golfer, which does not apply towards the green fee. IVGID Recreation Pass holders are exempt from pre-booking fees.
- Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours in advance to avoid fees. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the tee time will incur full green fees charges.
