So if you are like me (as I live in Australia, all outgoing flights seems to leave late at night), there has been many a day where you need to find something to do that is enjoyable, but doesn’t take too much time – or cost too much money. So if you have some time to kill in this beautiful city, here are 10 things you can get up to with a day in vancouver.

Enjoy the FlyOver Canada Show

One of the main attractions at Canada Place is the FlyOver Canada show. This 4D experience takes you on a virtual tour of Canada, from the East Coast to the West Coast, showcasing the country’s natural beauty and cultural diversity. You’ll feel like you’re flying over glaciers, mountains and cities, with special effects like wind, mist and scents adding to the immersive experience. The show lasts about 25 minutes and it’s suitable for all ages.

Relax with the Harbor Views

After the FlyOver Canada show, take some time to relax and enjoy the harbor views from Canada Place. There are plenty of benches and seating areas where you can sit and watch the boats and seaplanes go by. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of some wildlife such as seals or bald eagles. The harbor lights up at night, making it a perfect spot for a romantic evening stroll.

Canada Place is also home to several restaurants and bars, where you can grab a bite to eat or a drink while enjoying the views. The Pan Pacific Hotel, located right next to Canada Place, offers upscale dining options and a rooftop terrace with panoramic views of the harbor.

Getting Around Vancouver

During your one day trip to Vancouver, you will find that the city is relatively compact and walkable, making it easy to get around. However, you may also want to consider other transportation options to maximize your time and explore the city efficiently.

Public Transportation

Vancouver has an excellent public transportation system, which includes buses, SkyTrain, SeaBus and West Coast Express. If you plan to use public transit, we advise buying a Compass Card or using contactless payment for convenience and savings. Make sure to check the schedules and routes before heading out.

Biking

Biking is a popular and eco-friendly way to explore the city. You can rent a bike from one of the many bike shops or stations in Vancouver. We advise following the bike lanes and trails, such as the seawall and the Arbutus Greenway.

Driving

While driving is convenient, it is not necessary for most areas in Vancouver. If you plan to drive, be aware of the traffic and parking rules and fees in Vancouver. We advise avoiding driving during rush hours and in busy areas, such as downtown and Gastown.

Aquabus and Water Taxi

Another unique way to get around Vancouver is by taking the Aquabus or water taxi. These small ferries can take you to various destinations around the city, such as Granville Island and False Creek.

Hop on, Hop off bus

As mentioned above, book yourself a day ticket on the hop-on, hop-off bus and you will be able to visit most of the locations above with audio information provided on each of the stops as well.
