Although on my last visit to Bali in mid 2023, Canggu had certainly become a bit busier than it used to be!

Canggu is known for its excellent surf spots, attracting surfers from all over the world. The village has around 10 km of beach with black sand and a more rustic vibe. If you’re not into surfing, you can still enjoy the beach and soak up the sun.

Apart from surfing, Canggu also offers a range of activities such as yoga, horse riding and cycling. There are plenty of yoga studios offering classes for all levels and the beautiful rice fields surrounding the village make for a great cycling or horse riding experience.

When it comes to accommodation, Canggu has a range of options from budget-friendly hostels to luxury villas. You can find some great deals on Airbnb, or if you prefer a more traditional hotel experience, there are plenty of options available as well.

Canggu also has a vibrant food scene with a range of cafes and restaurants offering both local and international cuisine. You can find everything from traditional Indonesian dishes to vegan and gluten-free options.

Canggu has a more laid-back nightlife scene compared to Seminyak. There are plenty of bars and clubs to choose from, but they tend to close earlier than in Seminyak. Some popular places to go out in Canggu include Old Man’s, The Lawn, and Pretty Poison.

Shopping

Canggu has a number of boutique shops and markets where you can find unique clothing, jewelry and homeware items. Some popular places to shop in Canggu include Love Anchor Canggu, Samadi Sunday Market and Canggu Square. You can also find surf shops and art galleries if you look around as well.

Transportation in Seminyak vs Canggu

Getting to and from Seminyak and Canggu

If you prefer a scenic route, you can even walk along the beach from Canggu to Seminyak. The walk takes around 1.5 hours and offers stunning views of the ocean along the way.
